Bucks New University joins Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP)
Buckinghamshire New University has joined Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP), which brings together some of the world’s most respected health and academic institutions to bring demonstrable improvements in the health and wellbeing of the 2.3 million people living in North West London. It is also the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) for this area.
ICHP, which is licensed as one of the 15 AHSNs in England, also works with patients, industry and other sectors to identify new innovations and best practice, and turn these into practical products and services that can be more readily adopted by the NHS to improve patient care.
Bucks New University is one of three university members of ICHP, which also includes Imperial College London and Brunel University amongst its 22 partner organisations. Joining the Partnership will enable the University to share its academic and research innovations across a broader population, helping to improve care for patients both in North West London and beyond.
Bucks New University is a teaching-led, employer-facing university. It provides practice-based, industry-related higher education focused on employment, enterprise and leadership. Educating people since 1893, Bucks offers education to over 9,000 students on courses covering the health and social care sectors, the creative industries, and management and business.
The University is one of the largest providers of pre-registration nursing education across London. Its Faculty of Society & Health attracts major nursing contracts and has created a dedicated healthcare campus in Uxbridge, West London.
The University’s research work is strongly collaborative, fostering close links with industry, the public sector and charitable organisations. It will add much value to the already rich and diverse network created by the Partnership.
Professor Ruth Farwell, Vice Chancellor of BucksNew University, said: “I am delighted to announce that our university has joined ICHP as a partner.
“Our research centres and institutes have a breadth of experience and expertise in driving policy and innovation across disciplines and in integrated care to enhance service delivery. We will be working closely to ICHP to share and embed our learning across the sector.”
Dr Adrian Bull, Managing Director of Imperial College Health Partners, said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to welcome Buckinghamshire New University to the Partnership, and I know that it will make an excellent contribution to our work programme. We are looking forward to working in partnership with the university, helping to transform care and outcomes for patients in North West London.”
